Machine Learning Toronto – Oct 2024 Meetup

October MLTO was a delight. It was really enjoyable to welcome attendees and learn the meaning of names too! I was struck by the name that translates to “sound [of music]” and it was meaningful to see how he was touched to be reminded of what his name meant after such a long time.

Denys Linkov from Voiceflow walked us through Three Levels of Agent Building. Key takeaways were that in developing solutions with AI agents, it is important to be clear about the business problem, emphasizing simplicity, speed to implement and accuracy. It is also important to explore areas of improvement in current data processes, making sure to build good evaluation mechanisms and not ignoring opportunities for great user interfaces.

Devang Sharma from Amazon did a rich talk on Creating AI Agents in Vertex AI that was really easy to follow for beginners as he covered many foundational concepts from traditional ML through deep learning and down to Generative AI, then wrapped up with a demo on Vertex AI.
